Westmeath Sports Awards

Lakeside Wheelers were on hand in force to pick up the November monthly award at the Mullingar Park Hotel last Friday night. As the club had won primarily due to getting the Cycling Ireland Award for best club for the sublime hosting of the National Championships, it was fitting that the award was presented to Joe Duffy on behalf of the club.

Joe was interviewed by Robbie Irwin of RTE on the night in front of a crowd of about 300 attendees and gave a very good picture of the club. Joe spoke not only of our success at National level with the ladies & Damien Shaw etc. but also about the inclusivity of the club for people of all ages and levels. Joe made particular mention of our sprocket rocket section which also has been hugely successful in recent years and also of the welcome we have for new members.
