Weekend Racing Action in Wicklow and Bohermeen

posted 16 May 2011, 14:33 by Kevin Monaghan
Lakeside Wheelers were unlucky not to place in the Shay Elliott on Sunday with our racers Robbie Kenny, Damien Shaw, Steven Franzoni and John Murray finishing outside of the top 10. The race took place over a punishing 140km in the Wicklow mountains and attracts some of the top riders from the UK.

This year’s race was won by Timmy Barry of the Edge CC followed by Mark Dowling of Dectek. As yet unconfirmed but it looks like Damien Shaw finished just outside the top ten with John Murray a couple of minutes further back with Robbie and Steven in the main bunch.

The rest of the Wheelers race team headed off to Bohermeen and the Waller cup. Wendy Bates finishing in a fantastic second place in the Women’s National league race and our other A2 riders Peter Rimmer and Stuart Cox were unlucky to finish outside the top ten after riding aggressively in the combined A1 A2 99km race.
