The A, B and C groups left ORS as usual on Sunday morning, all with Multyfarnham as their destination for the stop. When the groups reached Multyfarnham at 11:00 there was split in the focus. The scones and soup called for some while 3km of mild hell-on-wheels was on other peoples minds.  With everyone signed on, Brian Collentine was the first rider off. With cool conditions on the hill, riders were let off every 30 seconds.

Robbie Kenny had organised a group of the junior riders to tackle the hill climb as he has for the past number of years. A few years ago the juniors were competing against themselves and comparing times but now it clear that as a result of all the advice from Robbie, Mick, Mark and Charlie on the Saturday morning spins and the dedication from the juniors themselves that they are no longer comparing against each other but are great riders in their own right.

The fastest time of the event was recorded by Eoin Lynch in the A group with a time of 3:53. Roy Carey recorded the fastest B group time of 3:59 - yes 3:59. Well done Roy. The fastest C group rider was Padraig Moore in a time of 4:48. The fastest junior time was recorded by Conor Canton in a time of 4:12.

Many members decided the tea and scones were more appetising than the idea of tackling a hill in damp conditions and then cycling back down it again. But the Hill climb is as much about all the groups meeting up for a very very long tea break together as much as it is about the awards presented at the Christmas party. Despite the cold weather 34 members took part in the event. Thanks to Cathy Flynn and Carmel Dolan who did finish line timing and sign-on. Thanks to Moss Keane for bike holder and start line marshalling.

Results are attached below.  See more pictures from the Hill Climb here.
