I hadn't realised how Rugby mad the club was until I arrived at the ORS on Sunday morning. A significant number were curled up on the couch looking at the Italian game and by the way well done to Ireland again. Back to the cycling now...

The numbers dictated that an A and B group only be formed with about 30 riders in total. The start of the spin was delayed while the winners of last week's trial were accepting the plaudits of the crowd. Did I say I was on that winning team? It is rumoured that Jack Nugent's team who finished second are being nominated for an Oscar. The category is not yet known but the bets are on "Best Cyclist in a Supporting Role" or is it the "Lifetime Achievement Award" (for coming second). Enough of that banter.

The fog and mist had descended on Mullingar and visibility wasn't the best. It has been our experience in the past that a few miles outside the town the fog can disappear so to be on the safe side we headed up the N4 (old road) to Enfield where we had our coffee break. Although a bit early in the spin the choice of hostelries for refuelling where we were heading after were few and far between. We returned via Rathmolyon, Ballivor and Killucan. How the road can seem so different when we cycle one of our frequent routes in reverse. We clocked up a nice 80km and we all arrived back a little mud soaked but satisfied on a mild but misty morning.

Are we going to cycle or play Rugby?!
