Another great week of results for the Wheelers on a National level. Fresh from his silver medal in the National Criterium Championships, Damien Shaw was in Emyvale on Friday evening for the Men's Elite Time Trial Championships 2011.  On a cold, wet and windy evening, he completed the 40km circuit in a fantastic time of 51 minutes 43 seconds, finishing in a highly credible 6th overall, a mere 1min 30 seconds behind first place. It was great to see a list of Pro Team names in the overall standings closely followed by Lakeside Wheelers Mullingar...

1. Matt Brammeier (HTC Highroad) 50 mins 15 secs
2. David McCann (Giant Kenda) 50 mins 21 secs
3. Michael Hutchinson (In Gear Quick Vit UK) 50 mins 29 secs
4. Sean Downey (Cotes d’Armour) 51 mins 13 secs
5. Martyn (Irvine (Giant Kenda Pro Cycling) 51 mins 18 secs
6. Damien Shaw (Mullingar) 51 mins 43 secs

All the names ahead of Damien's are professional riders.  Well done again on a super performance.

National Road Race Championships

We also had three riders competing in the road championships on Sunday. Damien Shaw, John Murray and Stuart Cox took on the gruelling championship circuit in Monaghan. The racing sounded extremely tough with breaks continually jumping from the word go. Our guys did really well with Stuart lucky to get back up the main bunch after crashing early on and Damien Shaw doing a great job finishing in 18th place overall. A brief chat with Damien explained how the race went “as expected the break went early and getting into it wasn’ t going to be easy. A lot of riders pulled out, the pace was really high. I’m very happy with 18th but of course I’m really happy with my time trial from Friday”

Well done to our race team we are of course very proud to have you in our ranks!
