Frost, fog and heavy rain played havoc with the Sunday spins over the last few weeks but with a fine dry morning last weekend the numbers were back to normal.

A sure sign that spring and warmer weather is on the horizon is when you see club Chairman, Joe Duffy back out on the weekly spins. Joe is cycling now for longer than he cares to remember but by his own admission, he is not fond of the wind and rain so, welcome back Joe. And, true to form, Joe was straight back to business as he led the “non-competitive” C Group on a leisurely spin along the Old Rail Trail to Moate. From here the group headed for Kilbeggan where they stopped for the all important coffee break. Fully refreshed they returned to base via Tyrrellspass with a handy 70kms in the legs.

This leisure group will be led each week by either Joe or Mickey Hynes and initially the routes will be generally flat. So, any members who are looking for pure leisure cycling or, if you want to improve your fitness, this is the group for you.
