Mark Horohoe sent me some details regarding the A group spin which I believe commenced with a large round of applause for Robbie Kenny who has stepped down as the A group leader. Robbie has led the faster Wheelers for the last four years and it has to be said has been instrumental in the improvement of many Lakeside riders. The lads were continuing their training block and took in some rolling roads at a steady pace but in a slightly harder gear than recent weeks. Their route brought them from base to Ballymore, Moate, Killbeggan for the coffee then on to Kinnegad and home, a total of 101KM 3hours and 30minutes. There was mention of a gold watch for Robbie, a la the Lance Armstrong tribute to his Tour Domestiques so we will see if it materialises!!!

The B group split into two and took a similar route, albeit not quite the same distance with Conor Isdell and Jack Nugent in leadership roles. There were two B group debutants in Louise and Muirna who by all accounts managed to acquit themselves very well. Moate was the location for the coffee stop which caused panic stations in the hotel as this was also the port of call for the two C groups. There are rumours of lads snacking on toast, buns and even a few opting for the Carbo loading, sausage and bacon sandwiches which Conor found interesting as he thought County footballers would be on a stricter diet plan!!!  The lads covered a very respectable 87KM and all enjoyed the spin.

Arthur also took his C troops in the same direction and once again due to large numbers there was need for two groups. Joe Duffy took the second group and despite a puncture on the return journey this was a very relaxed spin with everybody enjoying the winter sunshine.
John Boyan, Mark Horohoe, Arthur Dempsey and Conor Isdell in good spirits before Sunday's spin.
