I haven’t been able to speak to Damien but I believe it was a hard weekend down at the Suir Valley 3 day with some really tough competition from teams such as Sportactive and AnPost over a challenging and hilly course. The racing was over three days and included a technical hill climb in which Damien finished in an impressive second place.

Damien’s best placing over the weekend was a second on the second stage, he was in a three man break with Paudi O’Brien from Sportactive and an AnPost rider Ronan McLouglin. The three broke away from the break group and gained valuable seconds over the bunch, a sprint finish saw Damien just pipped for the line by Paudi.

The race was won by Conor McConvey with Herman Forche in second place and Patrick Clarke from Castlebar completing the podium places.

Damien’s great rides in stage two and stage three ensured he finished inside the top five in what is always a tough race, Well Done Damien!
