Greenway Cyclists on the Royal Canal on SundayAs the forecast reached us that the weather was looking frosty for the weekend, the text  followed soon after, notifying us that the regular club spins were called off for Sunday. However, a spin on the canal line - or the Royal Canal Greenway as it's now becoming known - was suggested. This turned out to be an excellent idea.

A number of groups took to the Royal canal, some going West but with the majority going East. Our group was not far out when the puncture fairy stuck. We soon realized that being on different bikes to our normal road bikes, we were ill equipped to deal with this puncture. We were short of a pump. Luckily we had the number of our very own "live line", yes Joe Duffy (The Downs) came to our rescue with a pump and we were soon off again.

We traveled out as far as Nanny Quinn's and then up to Killucan for a welcome coffee. We soon met the larger Wheelers group and the pump from Joe was used again as another of the group was caught. A headwind home made the journey more challenging but thoroughly enjoyable and some lessons were learned with regards to kit.
