Rimmer & Shaw Strong In Balbriggan

posted 4 Apr 2011, 14:07 by Kevin Monaghan
Well done to our A2 riders Damien Shaw and Peter Rimmer who both rode exceptionally to finish 2nd and 3rd A2 in the combined A1 A2 race on Sunday. The A1’s quickly caught the A2 bunch and within a short space of time initiated a break of 8 riders, as the peloton of approximately 100 riders hit the climb Peter made a jump and Damien went with him in an attempt to catch the A1 break down the road. Along with a group of about 10 riders Peter and Damien soon got a gap of 2 minutes on the rest of the bunch, they easily left strong A1 riders behind them and continued to extend their time gap. Peter and Damien will be marked men now in the bunch now and hopefully both can get into a winning break soon.

I’m sure Ken Berry will be happy with his ride in the A4 race in Balbriggan on Sunday also, Ken has been in every break going and eventually this week it stayed away! So Ken has his first points towards becoming an A3 rider with an excellent 6th place in the final sprint.
