Record Number for Ardattin 200 Audax Event

A record number of over 80 participants took part in the Audax run Ardattin 200K on Saturday. Among those taking part were a group of 6 from Lakeside Wheelers. The cycle began in Bray and went south via the coast to Arklow where it then went inland through Avoca and on south touching County Carlow and Wexford on route before returning back to Bray Wheelers. As anyone who has ever travelled through Wicklow will know, it's not a flat county and thus any cycle on its lovely routes can be described as challenging. Saturday morning also gave us some very heavy rain which persisted through the first 100K combined with wind which also added to the challenge. Audax events are unsupported, however the organisers had refreshments (and encouragement)  ready at the control points which helped the day. We had a lovely tailwind for the last 30K and all arrived safely back in Bray.

The next Audax event is called a Fleche, a 24 hour cycle on Good Friday. This is a team event with 10 teams starting in various parts of the country and all will finish in Mullingar (Reyno's) this year. Teams must complete a minimum distance of 360K. A team from Mullingar is entered for the event.

Entries are now being taken for the Midlands Meander. This is a 200K Audax event which starts in Multyfarnham and run by Conor Isdell. Further details can be found on
