Punchestown Duathlon

Last Sunday (Jan 22nd) Lakeside Wheelers were well represented in the ‘Trax Brassiere Duathlon Race Series’ hosted by Naas Triathlon Club. What a great day it was to start the first Duathlon race of 2012.

A lovely dry crisp Sunday morning it was with a nice wind.  Muirna Walsh, Paula Murray and Louise McCarra participated in this challenging, but very enjoyable and extremely well organised event. The race began with a 3.5km run( lap of Punchestown Race Course)  followed by a rolling 20km cycle and finally a 3.5km run.

Each of the three girls was delighted with their individual performances. Paula was unlucky to miss out on 3rd lady overall but should be very happy with 1st place in her age category. Muirna raced very well placing 2nd in her age category. This was Louise’s first time to compete in a duathlon. She raced extremely well placing 6th in her age category.

Well done to all three girls. We look forward to seeing more Wheelers participate in the next round on the 19th February.
