It gives me enormous pleasure and pride to annouce that Lakeside Wheelers has been invited by Cycling Ireland to host the National Criterium Championships in Mullingar town centre next summer. This is a fantastic honour for the club and one which every member should be extremely proud of. It is also a reflection of the high regard which the cycling community in Ireland have for Lakeside Wheelers and the people involved in it.

This exciting news will bring an even bigger dimension to what has become a very popular date in the Mullingar sporting calendar since its re-introduction two years ago.  Town centre cycling (Crierium racing) is probably one of the most exciting types of road racing and one that brings the actionup close and peronal to specators as it takes place over a short circuit.  A new and more technical circuit is being designed which will test the skills of the participants and maximise visibility for spectators.

We look forward to next summer and the arrival of the country's top riders for the national championships
