It was mentioned in these notes in recent weeks that Lakeside Wheelers will be celebrating a milestone birthday in 2016. Well, believe it or not the club will be 40 years old in the coming year and plans are already underway to see how best we should celebrate this big event.

Thankfully we have some members in the club today who were instrumental from the very beginning and ironically they are still at the coalface of Lakeside Wheelers. The present Chairman, Joe Duffy, has been a driving force in cycling in the Mullingar area since the mid 1970’s and was very influential in bringing the National Cycling Championships to the club in 2014. His predecessor, Mick Reynolds is currently very involved with the juniors and rarely misses a Sunday morning spin. The club gear is managed by Noel Delaney and this is a role he has carried out since the very early days of the club. Finally, the club website is probably one of the best club websites in the country and this is all thanks to Kevin Monaghan who works tirelessly every week updating the notes, photos and other relevant details.

There will be more information about how the club will mark this great occasion in the New Year.
