Midlands League Update

The organising committee for the Buckley's Cycles Midlands League met to discuss rider safety in races on Tuesday evening last.  It was unanimously agreed that all riders wishing to race in the Midlands league must have a minimum of one year’s group cycling experience before they will be permitted to race. The MIL club representative must approve your request to race. Please contact the club secretary if you have any questions on this.

It was also unanimously agreed that going forward an ambulance will be in attendance at every event. To cover the cost of this important safety measure each rider must register for the Midlands League. The cost of registration is 30 Euro ( 2 euro per race). This must be paid in full at the Lakeside Wheelers hosted race on 7th May. Each rider will be issued with an MIL registration card. This will need to be presented at sign on for all races after May 7th.  Riders not registered will not be permitted to race. The cost of registration will not change or reduce as the season progresses.

Marshaling was also discussed. Some clubs regularly have difficulty getting enough marshals to run their events. It was agreed that in the event of the minimum numbers of marshals not be available at any event, riders will be asked to volunteer to marshal. The events will not go ahead unless the required marshals are in place.

These measures have been introduced to try to improve safety.
