A small group of about 8 met up at St. Lomans for the usual Monday evening spin. Thankfully we were blessed with a fine summers evening as an enthusiastic group headed out for Multyfarnham via Crookedwood. The northern part of Westmeath has an excellent selection of hills to test the legs, as the notorious Piggery hill proved to be! We enjoyed an exciting descent into Multy which turned out to be a competitive battle among a few. We returned to Mullingar along the N4 and its relatively flat incline permitted us to have a strong finish.

Overall, the group covered a respectable 33km with an average speed of 27 km/h. I’d really encourage anyone who is interested to give the junior spins a go; it’s a great and fun way to enjoy the nice summer weather, and of course have a
bit of craic along the way!
