International Call-up for Sarah

posted 1 Sept 2010, 06:27 by Kevin Monaghan
Another Wheeler who got the ultimate reward this week is Sarah Pinaar who was called up to the Irish squad for a series of races in Belgium and the upcoming Ras Na mBan.
Sarah was on an Irish development squad back in 2008 but this time she has been awarded full international honours and leaves for Belgium next weekend to compete in three criterium type events. This is part of the preparation for Ras Na mBan which is the main road race for ladies in Ireland every year and attracts a large international entry to the Co. Kerry town of Sneem.
It is a fantastic achievement for Sarah and one which is well deserved after all her years of training and racing at the highest level. It is also a great honour for Lakeside Wheelers to have an international rider in our ranks and can only be of huge benefit to our members, especially the girls. Some of these girls have already been getting some expert advice from Sarah who along with Wendy and Michelle has held regular “GIRL ONLY” sessions throughout the summer practicing cornering, braking, group riding and general bike handling skills. The girls would like to extend a huge thanks to Sarah, Wendy and Michelle for their time and patience during these sessions as everyone was made to feel very comfortable and cyclists of every ability welcomed.
The committee and all the members of Lakeside Wheelers would like to congratulate Sarah and wish her all the best of luck on her international journey.
