Festive Fare and Fun for Wheelers in Multy

A later than usual start time of 10:30 and a fine, sunny, if slightly chilly morning  brought the Wheelers out in force today (27th December) for the Club's annual Christmas jaunt, which has become known as the "Turkey Trot".  Don't know why it's become known as that - as it could be conceived as some type of abdominal disorder following the over consumption of the bird in question!

As you can see from the pictures the eighty or so attendees at ORS were many and varied, showing no signs of over-indulgence - well at least not on the surface anyway.  The spin itself - which is somewhat incidental on occasions such as this -consisted of a shortish hop from ORS out to Multyfarnham via Cloughan, Lee's Cross and Crookedwood, where upon arrival everyone decanted to Weir's where copious amounts of festive fare was laid on.  Well done yet again Pat & Una - you never fail to deliver when the Wheelers come to town.

Part of the festive fun and frolics included an exclusive raffle for participants with lots of great prizes, generously donated by friends of Lakeside Wheelers, including Kenny Fuels, Reynos Café, Tri & Run, Outdoor Escape, Coole Pharmacy, Fagan Office Supplies and Mulberry.  Congratulations  to all the winners and many thanks to all who provided the great prizes.

All good things come to an end and before long it was time to leave the convivial surroundings of Weir's and Multyfarnham and head for home, with the well established cycling fact that there's no way out of Multy without climbing a hill forefront in everyone's mind.

Well done to everyone who took part and of course to the organisers and not forgetting Pat and Una Weir for their hard work and hospitality.
