The trial was conducted on a Watt bike, which is a very sophisticated stationary testing bike which can accurately measuring your power output, your pedalling technique and heart rate.

Very quickly the team management realised Damien was a very talented rider and offered him a place on the team immediatly.
Prior to getting involved in cycling, Damien enjoyed a successful athletics career with Mullingar Harriers, representing Ireland in cross country at U19 level. In 2010, he decided to get involved in cycling and joined local club, Lakeside Wheelers, where his cycling talent was soon evident with success coming quickly with several wins in his first seasons as a road cyclist.

After joining up with the Irish Paracycling squad, in 2011, Damien was paired with James Brown to target qualification for London.

They have since gone from strength to strength, securing a superb silver medal in the 4km Individual Pursuit at February’s UCI World Track Championships in LA and a fourth-place finish in the Time Trial on the Segovia leg of the 2012 UCI World Road Cup.
