Clodagh Doesn't Stop Crookedwood Mudfest

Another reason why the bad weather should not be used as an excuse not to ride your bike is the club Cyclocross league. The second round of this exciting series of “races” was run off in Crookedwood last Sunday and although “Clodagh” did her best, she did not succeed in stopping the hardy Wheelers who turned up.

The organisers were delighted with the crowds that turned out to support this fun event with numbers way higher than expected. Those who did compete had a blast and by dinner time they were more than ready for the spuds. Organisers, Roy Carey, Steve Franzoni and crew had another challenging course laid out which was made all the more difficult by the windy conditions, the torrential rain and the mud bath that resulted from both.

Many thanks to club member, Dave Fagan and family for inviting us to avail of his fabulous “farm” facilities and unlike the St Stephen's Day festivities, nobody felt obliged to jump into Lough Derrevaragh!

Thanks also to Joe Duffy (the bearded one) who yet again turned up to take photos of the mudfest.

It was hoped to hold round 3 before the Christmas break but for logistical reasons this is now unlikely to happen. Stay tuned to club notes and emails for details of where and when this will be staged.
