A busy period lies ahead for the club with three important and well established events taking place in June and July...

Tour Of The Lakes Rescheduled
Due to a clash of dates on the sportive calendar, the club’s annual Tour of the Lakes event will now be held on Sunday, 18th June. This spin was originally scheduled for 11th Junebut with the ever-popular Wicklow 200 now going ahead on that date the club took the option of rescheduling.

The Wicklow 200 is certainly a great day out and for many years has been a “bucket list” spin for leisure and competitive riders alike. With several LSW members signed up for the hilly 200km event across the Wicklow Mountains the committee took the decision to change the date of our own annual sportive.

There will be more detailed information on this year’s “Tour of the Lakes” available in the coming weeks and if you are interested in assisting with the organisation of it please contact any committee member.

Mullingar Criterium 2017
Wednesday, June 14th is the date for the Mullingar Criterium which will see three separate races being run off on a closed-road circuit in Mullingar town centre.

Mullingar Grand Prix 2017
A month later, the Mullingar Grand Prix will be up for contest on Sunday, 16th July and will once again be held on the Multyfarnham-Castlepollard-Crookedwood-Multyfarnham circuit. This year the GP has been included in the National Road Series which is a Cycling Ireland competition for the very best riders in the country. It is a great honour for the club to have our GP included in this league as it sits with some of the very best races on the domestic scene such as the Des Hanlon, the Visit Nenagh Classic and the iconic, Shay Elliot Memorial race.

If any members are available and willing to assist with the running of these events can you please indicate your availability on the Excel spreadsheet emailed to all members recently or alternatively, contact club secretary, Jerry Waugh or any committee member.
