BMX Day in Rathoath

posted 12 Dec 2011, 15:55 by P.R.O Lakeside Wheelers
The hard working Steven Franzoni & Charlie Sheridan brought a group of underage riders (Thomas Kilmurray, Cian Humphries, Ryan Sheridan, Daniel Smyth & Dylan Franzoni) for a day out to the recently opened Rathoath BMX Club in Co. Meath for a day’s BMX riding.

BMX racing is derived from Motocross, its bicycle racing on specially prepared dirt tracks over jumps and around banked turns, typical tracks are 350M long and races are sprints between 8 riders that last under 60 seconds.

From what I have heard from a couple of the lads that attended I believe it was a great day out.

I was speaking with Thomas Kilmurray for a little while about it and he said that it was one the best days he has had on a bike in his short but very active cycling career. Thomas has promised to write me up a report on the day out, which I will publish in due course.
