April Brings The Spring Spin

April has finally arrived and while there’s no guarantee that it will finally herald the spring season, one thing for sure is that the Spring Spin cycles are just around the corner.  While the weather has been on the cold side, hopefully everyone planning to take on the 260km Sligo challenge on Saturday 20th & 21st April have been getting the miles in.  Still a couple of weeks to go and with the benefit of the bright evenings, there will be lots of opportunities to get in some additional miles.

For those not planning on doing the Sligo cycle, don’t forget that on the previous weekend – Sunday 14th  April, here is also a chance to support North Westmeath Hospice in the Family Cycle.  This is a great event, a nice 20km circuit, suitable for all standards and age groups (over 12 upwards).  Things get under way at 1pm at The Downs GAA club with sign-on, the first group setting off at 2pm.

The route is the same as the past couple of years and will take participants from The Downs to Killucan, out the Cloughan road to Drummond Cross and back to The Downs.  So why not set aside a couple of hours on Sunday 14th April to get some fresh air in good company and raise a few quid for the Hospice in the process.  Sponsorship cards are available from Paraic Devine (087 9324752).
