The club AGM was held last Friday night in the Greville Arms hotel and as usual it was well attended. Chairman, Joe Duffy opened the meeting with a comprehensive address which included a detailed report of some highlights from the previous year. Following the Chairman’s address some of the clubs officers made presentations on the different areas of interest within the club such as membership, finance, youth affairs, racing, leisure, off-road and Sprocket Rocket. All of these excellent presentations were well received by those in attendance and it was very evident that the club is in very good standing across all of its disciplines.

With all presentations completed it was time for motions to the AGM for discussion. This year there was only one which concerned the reintroduction of the Two-Day race. This great event was last staged in 2010 but for various reasons has not being promoted by the club since. After an interesting debate it was agreed that this motion would be withdrawn with the possibility of it being explored further by a working group which will report back to committee with proposals for the 2018 season.

Next on the agenda was the election of a committee for the coming year. With all but two of the current committee available for election again this often arduous task was dealt with in minutes. The two new committee members are Camillus Farrell who will take up responsibility for the Youths while Darragh Caffery will take on the role of Events Officer. The current committee members willing to stand again for another season were all re-elected unopposed.

The new committee in full is: Joe Duffy Chairman, Jerry Waugh, Secretary, Joe Kenny, Membership Secretary, Liz Hoctor, Treasurer, Shay O’Toole, PRO, Darragh Caffery, Events, Camillus Farrell, Youths, Henry Whitston, Committee Member.
With the current President, Mr Oliver Bright standing down this year there will be a new “Commander in Chief” for 2017/18 and the holder of this prestigious office will be announced at the club Christmas party next month. The Child Protection Officer will also be announced in the coming weeks.

So, with all the business of the evening accounted for, the meeting was adjourned and as is now customary a few post-AGM refreshments were consumed.

Thanks to all who attended and also to those who stepped forward to be part of the new committee. Here’s to the new season where we will hopefully see more success on the roads and track.
