"A" Group Rolls on...

A bright morning saw over 20 "A" group riders meeting up in ORS. We divided into two groups leaving 2 minutes between each on the road. The A group has moved on to the Base 2 phase of the club training plan. The plan for this phase is to include rolling hills to our endurance spins. The inclusion of these hills is to increase riders strength. We will be riding the hills at a steady pace rather than at the hell for leather pace we might during the summer.

A steady headwind welcomed us to the Ballynacargy road. Ballymahon and a few hills later and it was time for the tea stop in Glasson. Before we got back on the bikes the new PRO had the camera out for line-up of both groups. Despite the tough route home through Ballymore and Loughnavalley the group rode at the controlled pace on hills that will see the legs building muscle strength.

The benefit of the strength gained from this controlled riding on hills should be seen in Spring when the pace is increased and speed and power work is the focus.
