![]() I started cycling as a schoolboy in the Inter-schools TT in 1987 and raced with Mullingar Cooke Electric Cycling Club until 1990. I then decided to take a well deserved career break.! The esteemed Joe Duffy convinced me to join Lakeside Wheelers after an absence of 21 years. It was an easy decision to make as I knew a lot of the members of Lakeside Wheelers for years. No of hours training during week? 10-12 hours per week approx during the winter, it can vary in the summer as races are incorporated in my training. Best & Worst Cycling moments? Best: Winning my first open race in 2012 as an A4 rider in the Traders Cup Dundalk. 2014 has been a memorable year so far with a win in Clara and 3rd in Mount Temple in the Midland League. I also placed 4th in Emyvale A3 race and was the first Vet across the line. I take great joy in bringing the juniors out on training spins which means I get to spend time cycling with my son Jack. I am really looking forward to the Nationals and especially that it’s happening on home ground. Worst: In 2013 I crashed in Emyvale GP and was gutted that my bike was more damaged than I was! |
