Why & when did you take up cycling?
Aisling Flanagan
I started cycling in Oct 2012 when I bought a bike on the Cycle to Work Scheme. I had just finished my thesis and wanted to get fit again. My first cycling event was a charity cycle for LARCC and I loved it. I play football competitively and that competitive drive has transferred on to the bike.
No. of hours training during week?
I train 8-10 hours a week approx during the winter. It can vary in the summer as races are incorporated in my training.
Best & worst cycling moment?
My best cycling moment is actually my best and worst one. Richie Donoghue convinced me to do a charity spin (Mullingar- Maynooth –Mullingar).

The worst part was I didn’t have any breakfast and only ate a Mars bar all day. I reached Maynooth feeling good but I struggled on the return leg home. I had to be pushed up the hill at Fureys pub!

The best part of this cycle was that I made really good friends with whom I cycle now. It also introduced me to group cycling and the camaraderie you build up with people in cycling groups.
