National Ladies & Vets Championships 2014

The National Road Race Championships for 2014 have come to a successful conclusion following a return visit to the picturesque village of Multyfranham on Saturday last to stage the rescheduled veterans and women's road races which had to be moved to September due to the tragic circumstances of 28th June. And despite the move to the autumn the weather gods were again good to us, delivering a perfect day for racing on the same challenging course used by the elite men in June.

A veritable army of club members descended on Multyfaranham to carry out the many and varied tasks necessary to ensure a safe, enjoyable and professionally run event.  Under the able guidance of the organising committee, the village was quickly transformed into race HQ in readiness for the action later in the morning.  Both races went off without incident and provided great entertainment to spectators.

Well done to Wheeler participants, especially to Michelle and Sonia who finished 5th and 6th respectively, fantastic performances in their debut year cycling.  A huge thank you and well done to all who volunteered their time and energies to assist in the organising of the championships. A full report on the day's racing will follow shortly.
