Beginners & Improvers Programme

posted 27 Sep 2010, 02:56 by Kevin Monaghan   [ updated 28 Feb 2011, 05:34 ]
As a continuation to a skills training programme which we introduced at the beginning of this year the committee have decided to run another batch of training days to be held on Saturday mornings.

We have organised for these spins to be led by some of the most experienced riders and coaches in the club, so if you have joined us recently and would like to get some top class advice on topics such as bike set up, bike handling, group riding, nutrition, clothing etc all you have to do is turn up at the ORS at 9am and join in the fun. All spins will include a coffee stop so come along & we look forward to seeing you there....
Many thanks to Craig Sterrett for facilitating this programme.

A quick guide for new cyclists has also been put together, which you can view or download here.

Sprocket Rocket Children's Coaching Programme

Cycling Ireland held an information day on Sunday 26th September for the introduction of their new children’s coaching programme which is entitled “Sprocket Rocket”.  Lakeside Wheelers were represented by Robbie Kenny.

Although our own programme which we have held in Belvedere for the last two years is very similar, this new venture by our governing body will help us to give better structure to our youngest members’ introduction to cycling.

Robbie will be giving a demonstration of this new programme to our own coaches in the spring of 2011.
