Thankfully the new clubhouse is only one kilometre from my house as I only woke at 8:35 this morning! A quick change and an even quicker breakfast and out the door at 8:58 with plenty of time to meet my fellow wheelers. My plan this morning was to go with the B group even though I had plenty of friendly requests to the join the A Group, I declined and set out for Horesleap with the fast B group. We quickly set into our rhythm with all ten of us sharing the workload. It wasn't long before we were making our way into Streamstown, just around the time that the large A Group caught and passed us.

For some reason I had the great idea of leaving my fellow B's and jump accross to the A Group. "Why oh why am I doing this" I thought as I quickly made ground on the cruising A's . Once I joined up I quickly got settled into the rhythm and the miles flew by. Before long we were in Moate and this is where Mick Reynolds' wonderful mystery tour kicked in. Only Mick knew where we were going or so he said anyway! We turned for Castledaly and then on to Ferbane via Doon and then onto Clara for refreshments (No coffee unfortunately, marked down for that one Mick!).  Less travelled roads but its nice to get a change of scenery.

After a quick catch up and refuel we headed for home via through Kilbeggan and onto Dalystown, where the inevitable race for home began. "Why oh why did I jump across" came back into my mind as we hurtled through Ballinagore at 45kmph! Never before was I as happy to hear "Puntcure" (sorry Cass). With a number of people stopping to help out and a few of us continuing on due to time constraints the race for home was somewhat negated. All home safe and sound with 105KM the legs.

Footnote: It was great getting the opportunity to go on a spin with Australian National marathon MTB champion Jenny Fay and her husband Andy who is also the Current marathon national champion whom are home on holidays and having the Irish leg of their wedding. Congratulations to ye both and enjoy the rest of your holiday.
